Every participant receives an info sheet at least a few weeks before the start of camp. It contains the project description, the main the activities, basic conditions in camp, things to bring, and designates a place and time where the volunteers meet for the first time.
How To Volunteer
July 17, 2009
WINPHIL is part of regional and worldwide networks, having partner organizations in most countries in the world. Its programs are sent and broadcasted by partners several months before the start of each program.
A foreign volunteer wanting to join camp in the Philippines applies to a partner organization in his home country which in turn sends the application to WINPHIL for placement. If a slot is available, a Letter of Acceptance is sent back which confirms the volunteer’s participation in the particular project applied for. The local volunteers on the other hand are selected after orientation and pre-camp training.
Generally, the volunteer pays a registration fee to the sending organization. In the same way that WINPHIL (or any host organization) requires the payment of a minimal participation fee. This covers board and lodging, and related expenses for the duration of the workcamp, as well as administration costs. Travel cost to and from the workcamp site at the beginning and end of camp is paid by the volunteers themselves.
To prepare you for possible placement in workcamps by our partners abroad, we encourage you to join our local workcamps in Cebu for a minimal fee. We will be publishing a list of new workcamps in our website before the end of every February. Summer Workcamps start from April to September, while Winter Workcamps usually starts from January to February in different areas in Cebu. But whether or not you will be joining workcamps abroad, or simply wanting to have a local-international voluntary service experience, you are welcome to join our programs. Fill up this form and send to win_phil@yahoo.com.
